Endometriosis Advocates

It is Endometriosis Awareness month, and I would feel remiss if I didn't write about it. My life has been a blur the last several weeks with lots of personal stressors, so I haven't had much time to devote to the blog as of late.

But I wanted to give a shout out to all of the women out there that are fighting strong. You keep going, you beautiful women! Endometriosis is small compared to your resilience. Pray for God's assistance, and you will conquer.

As it says in Doctrine & Covenants Section 10:

"Pray always, that you may come off conqueror."

Endometriosis, I feel is a trial that can bring us closer to God. It can refine us to think beyond our physical state and reflect on the eternal nature of our spirits. It can also give us an opportunity to think about others, and reach out to those around us that may need our guiding light.

Given that I am thinking about looking outside of ourselves, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite Endometriosis supporters in the online community.

First I would like to recognize Aubree Deimler. Her personal experience with Endometriosis is much like many of our own, but she has taken her journey to the next level by being an advocate and a wellness coach for women who are struggling with the disease.  Her Facebook group, Finding Peace with Endo, was the first one I encountered that provided the kind of peace for which I was aching. She recently published a book about energy related to Endometriosis pain called The Energetics of Endo. You can learn more about it here.  She also hosts a podcast with lots of gold nuggets that relate to overall health and wellbeing. You can listen to her latest one here: Peace With Endo

Another truly amazing and inspiring Endometriosis advocate is Dr. Masahide Kanayama of The New York Endometriosis Center. I follow him on Instagram, and his posts are so insightful and touching as he performs surgery on women who are hopeless and feeling like the medical community has failed them. I have never met him, but I love him! I hope to one day shake his hand and give him a hug. He has performed thousands of excision surgeries and has helped women achieve their dream of having a child.

I would next like to highlight an artist that really made me smile. I feel like Endometriosis should be joked about, when it is at its worst. Laughing about the ridiculousness is sometimes the best way to cope with the difficulties associated with the disease. Stacey Lehane hails from down under in Australia, and is an extremely talented artist. She recently underwent a hysterectomy due to the severity of her Endometriosis.

I came across her comic one day as I was searching for funny Endometriosis memes. Please enjoy the comic below. You can support her art and access her merch by visiting these shops:

I'd like to thank all of these advocates for the hard work they put into their efforts to support Endometriosis Warriors. During the month of Endometriosis Awareness, I hope you think about someone in the community that you admire and thank them for all they do!
